‘Nosferatu’ Remake in the Works from Studio 8

With vampires having a big upswing in popularity over the last few years it’s amazing that someone didn’t attempt to remake “Nosferatu” sooner.  But now the wheels are in motion and Nosferatu, possibly the scariest vampire I’ve ever seen, is coming back to the big screen.

Deadline has learned exclusively that Studio 8 is pursuing a remake of the classic German film “Nosferatu.”  Studio 8 has also lined up a director for the project in the form of Robert Eggers.  Eggers recently won a Sundance director prize for his latest project “The Witch.”  Eggers will also write the project.

I’m all for a new “Nosferatu” film, my biggest hope is that they just keep the look the same.  It’s so utterly terrifying and unsettling, there’s no improving upon the look of Nosferatu.  Otherwise, I think there’s great potential in revisiting that character and trying new things with him.  He would certainly bring a visceral edge to vampire films that the has been lacking as of recent.
