Prometheus 2 Begins Production with Ridley Scott

Prometheus Int Poster 3Prometheus was a blast and a monster at the box office so it comes as no surprise that the sequel has finally begun production. I an interview with TotalFilm Ridley Scott revealed that he will begin shooting the film this upcoming January.

Prometheus 2 will take place after the events of the first film and will see Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace will both reportedly reprise their roles in the film. The more interesting part for me is that right after Prometheus 2 we will get ALIEN 5 directed by Neill Blomkamp  set after the events of Prometheus 2.

Given how much Ridley Scott tried to say that Prometheus was not an ALIEN franchise movie this go around their seems to be a lot less effort to pretend Prometheus wont tie together the pieces for ALIEN 5.

With Blomkamp’s vision as well as Sigourney’s ideas in place Alien 5 is looking to go ahead and with that, Entertainment Weekly caught up with Neill Blomkamp, where he talked about the project as well as Sigourney Weaver’s involvement.

Those first two [Alien] films are probably my favorite films ever made. I didn’t know if it would ever happen. I just always wanted to participate in it if I was able to.

Over the years, I came up with a story for a film in that universe that I wanted to make. And then when I talked to her about her experience making those films and what she thought about Ripley and everything else, it informed and changed the film I wanted to make into something different.

It just sort of stuck with me. A year later, when post-production was winding down on ‘Chappie’, I started fleshing out the idea for a film that would contain Sigourney. Fox never knew. I just worked on it when I could. Before I knew it, I had this really awesome film with a lot of artwork and a lot of backstory. And then I didn’t know whether I was going to make it or not. So I just kind of sat on it for a while.

Are you up for more Alien? Are you most excited for Prometheus 2 or Alien 5? OR are you like some of us who think is time to just leave the whole ALIEN franchise alone Hit us in the comments.
