The World’s End Goes Viral With New Video

Hard to believe that we’re only a month out till we get to see the final film in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy.  However, when “The World’s End” hits theaters on August 23rd, I’m sure it won’t be the last time Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost share the screen together.  Before we get to the end, though, we’ll have plenty of advertising to sift through.

For instance, take the video below which seems to have adopted the “viral marketing” approach to advertising.  The one-minute clip offers a brief tour of the film’s setting, Newton Haven, and plays like a tourist advert from the 70s.  It’s a bit of a quickie, but it serves as a nice primer for the bars that’ll feature in the film.  Check it out.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

The film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddie Marsan.  It’ll hit theaters in the US on August 23rd and on July 19th in the UK.
