Two Actors Join Woman in Black Sequel

Given the success of The Woman in Black, both critically and financially, it was no surprise when they announced a sequel would be coming.  And now we finally have some substantial news to tell you about.  The first two lead actors have been cast!

Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Phoebe Fox (Black Mirror) have been cast in the upcoming Woman in Black sequel The Woman in Black: Angels of Death.  While the sequel will return to Eel Marsh House, the circumstances will be entirely different.

Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh Harsh has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black.

The film is being directed by Tom Harper (Misfits) and written by Jon Croker, who worked as a story editor on the first film.

On a personal note, I thought that The Woman in Black was a fantastic old school style horror film. It was both chilling and somber and left me with a bittersweet aftertaste.  I don’t know if a sequel can capture the same mood that the first film established, but I’m excited to see them try.  How about you dear Reader?
