Willem Dafoe Soon to Join Odd Thomas?

The upcoming adaptation of Dean R. Koontz’s novel Odd Thomas is being helmed by Stephen Sommers which has already cast Anton Yelchin to play the character of “Odd” and Addison Timlin playing the character of “Stormy Llewellyn”.

Recently The Hollywood Reporter has mentioned that Willem Dafoe is currently in talks to portray the character of the local police chief. If negotiations go through, Dafoe will join the shoot taking place in Mexico this Spring and Summer.

The film is said to have a budget around the $20 to $30 million range which will also have Sommer and John Baldecchi producing.

The story follows “a short-order cook named Odd Thomas who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police (Dafoe) chief know.

The young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe.”
