You know how I got started blogging about horror? I originally wrote a blog about all things Halloween. Naturally you can’t talk about Halloween without talking about horror. And somewhere in the middle of those two concepts was Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights.
When I was a young blogger, opening night of HHN was the Super Bowl of my writing career I’d spend all year covering the event and speculating on rumors in preparation for the big night. I remember the first time I was invited to the press event for HHN. There was an open bar and it was the first time anyone had told me I could drink as much as I want for FREE. Let me tell you, that night I shoved alcohol into my mouth like I was a squirrel preparing for winter. I’m not proud of it, but I remember it fondly.
And after all these years, I still get excited when I get to write about Halloween Horror Nights! Now the first bit of news has finally hit my desk: Universal Studios Orlando has announced the dates for Halloween Horror Nights 2013. The event will be in operation for 27 days this year and will run on: Sept. 20-21, 26-29, Oct. 3-6, 10-13, 16-20, 23-27, and Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Notice that it’s staying open two whole days after Halloween? That’s a change I can get behind. I wonder if Universal Studios Hollywood will match the dates?
